Open House and Community Forums
As Liberal Judaism and the Movement for Reform Judaism unite into one Progressive Judaism for the UK, we have been holding a series of forums – both in-person and online – for all of our congregations and members.
These provide the opportunity for Progressive Judaism Co-Leads Rabbi Charley Baginsky and Rabbi Josh Levy to hear directly from you – and find out first-hand what really matters to you about Progressive Judaism.
Rabbis Josh and Charley hold their online Open House once a month. They will be using the sessions between now and the end of May to outline the practical steps and upcoming votes to create one Progressive Judaism for the UK, including key aspects of the detailed information packs sent to communities.
These forums are also your chance to ask Progressive Judaism’s leadership the questions you have, raise any concerns, and most importantly share your vision for the future. The next Open House events will take place on:
Thursday 6 February at 8pm
Thursday 6 March at 8pm
Thursday 10 April at 8pm
Thursday 8 May at 8pm
Email hello@progressivejudaism.org.uk for the Zoom link so that you can join us!
There is also a leadership check-in that takes place on the third Tuesday of every month at 8pm, run by Sarita Robinson (The Movement for Reform Judaism’s Director of Community Partnership) and Alexandra Gellnick (Liberal Judaism’s Director of Development and Membership). This is specifically aimed at those in leadership positions within their communities and offers the chance to share ideas and look at areas of future collaboration and cooperation.
In-person Community Forums ran throughout 2023 and 2024 across the country. A list of the events that took place are below and some of the pictures taken are above.
You can read an update here from Rabbis Charley and Josh about what they learned, and their excitement for the path ahead. They said: “This has been a vital time – listening to all the possibilities. When discussing the building of the new movement, we have been pleased that the questions we have been asked have been ones of ‘how’ and ‘when’ and not ‘whether’, from a shared position of ambition and passion for Progressive Jewish life.”
Rabbis Josh and Charley will continue visiting and speaking with communities, and their leadership, throughout this process.
